You lot seemed to like the peek I gave into what remains in my foundation drawer, so I thought I’d do the same for where my lip stuff lives. I’ll cut the chatter and get on with it because I’ve been a little less ruthless when it comes to all pout-related…
I’ll skip over lip balms because they’re dotted about in various drawers and bags so I’m never without one, but noticeable mentions go to the By Terry Baume de Rose and the BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask, the latter of which might just be the most hydrating lip product ever. And for glosses there’s only one formula out there for me – the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (7 and 5 are my jam) – though drugstore-wise I do love the Fleur De Force Lipgloss in Written In The Stars.
I’m a bit of a lip pencil fiend so there are a lot of those that made it through the cull successfully. I really enjoy the MAC Lip Pencils mainly for their colour range and highlights include Heroine, Ruby Woo and Beet, though their Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in What A Blast is fab for lining when it comes to orange based reds. The Illamasqua Slick Stick Lip in True is what I use for neutral colours, then I have the KIKO Ace of Diamond Lip Pencil in 27 and Clinique’s Quickliner For Lips Intense in Licorice to pair with berry shades.
Lipsticks can be split into three categories: those I slick on without a mirror, those that provide a bit more colour and then the really intense bold shades. In the first category there’s the MAC Lipsticks in Patisserie, Jazzed and Cut a Caper, NARS Lipstick in Barbarella, CHANEL Rouge Coco Lipstick in Adrienne, Marc Jacobs New Nudes Lipstick in Understudy and BITE Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Pepper. Dishing out a bit more colour I have the Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick in Kiss Chase, Clinique Lip Pop in Melon Pop (one of my favourite peaches) and MAC Lipstick in Mehr which is extremely matte, but extremely flattering. Unsurprisingly my bold lipsticks follow a red trend with MAC’s Ruby Woo which is just a classic and MAC Chilli which is a brown-toned brick red. A bit of a miscellaneous one is KIKO’s Ace of Diamond Lipstick in 27 which is probably my favourite berry of all time and is the colour I’m wearing in my profile photos.
Yes I’m going to dedicate a whole paragraph to the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils because they are just the best bold lipstick formula out there in my eyes. Long-lasting, not too drying and no pencil required because wahey – it is one! My most used colours are Red Square, Cruella and Damned, but I still love Train Bleu, Iberico (limited edition) and Dragon Girl.
I’m also having a real liquid lipstick moment right now and I am damn right jealous of all the brands that do them on the other side of the pond, so right now I’m consoling myself with my humble stash that consists of Kat Von D, Bourjois and NYX. I feel like my favourite formula are the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks because they are so wear-reistant and the colour range is d’bomb. A-Go-Go is a straight-up orange, Outlaw is a true red and Exorcism is a deep violet. On the more mousse-y side of texture are the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams which I have in Morocco and Cannes (I’m eyeing up some more colours of these – feel free to recommend). But the best drugstore offering has to be the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets in Ole Flamingo and Hot Pepper.
Phew – I feel like my hand is about to fall off. If you got this far then give yourself a pat on the back. Right – I’m off to pour over the Colourpop site and make an imaginary basket crammed full of liquid lipsticks…
