My Current Summer Spritzes

Perfume is a weird one for me. Back in the day I was a wannabe fragrance collector. My mate Lauren had an epic stash and whenever we stayed over her house or got ready round there for a night out it felt like I’d secretly been allowed to attend a lock-in at The Perfume Store. Her collection was and still is, that impressive. As the years have passed though, my perfume load has lessened and lessened as my tastes have changed and I’ve become more prone to certain smells and whiffs making me feel grim and nauseous. Sometimes even just testing a perfume on my wrist makes me want to instantly vom and I have to wash it off. Anything that’s too heady or heavy is not my cup of tea, so I steer clear of them and instead reach for fresh and zesty fragrances that don’t make me feel like passing out. Basically I’m always in summer-mode when it comes to EDT’s and EDP’s so even though these are my current favourites, really, with the addition of a handful of others, they’re my year-round go-tos…

Tom Ford Private Blend Neroli Portofino Eau de Parfum. This is about as full-on as I can get these days, but whenever I spray on this one it makes me think of a fancy holiday in Italy, driving down the Amalfi coast, which is basically my bucket list dream. It’s a citrus, herb and floral blend of notes that when brought together just smell like summer in the most luxurious way possible. Can you tell that describing scents is not my forte?

Escentric Molecule Escentric 02. OK now hear me out on this one. The best way I can describe it is – G&T. It’s got a sharpness to it and then a citrus cut-through too. It’s an odd one, but it’s very fresh and as I always say, it’s like the grown-up version of CK One. I like this worn on myself as much as when Mark steals it too.

Kiehl’s Fig Leaf and Sage Fragrance Mist. I call this my ‘Coachella scent’ as I practically doused myself in the stuff when I was there a couple of months ago (I know *eye roll*). I quite like trying a new scent for a big occasion as then that way it always reminds me of that time. This is the most unisex and musky of the four, but there’s still a sweetness in there which is why I find it wearable enough for me. Unfortunately this is on its way to the discontinued pile so if you like it and you see it – grab it.

Stella McCartney Stella Eau de Parfum. This is my longest standing fragrance favourite. I loved it before my perfume headaches started and I still love it now. I’d class this as a light and fresh floral and it’s just forever a classy and chic scent to me. It’s one of those where you can recognise it on others and it just smells clean and feminine. This must be about my fifth bottle of the stuff; they’ll always be one of these in my stash.
