With the bulk of my makeup residing in my little apothecary-style unit, the daily things that I slap on my face are reduced to just a small makeup bag that I keep in the bedroom. I actually really like this set-up. Not only is it super quick and fuss-free getting ready in the morning because the decision of what lipstick to wear is reduced to just a handful, I love it because each Monday morning I come and sit in my office, open up the drawers to my larger makeup home and do a rotation of what I’m currently using. Doing it this way means that I actually change it up from time to time and it’s a fun thing to do and give the middle finger to the Monday blues. So today I thought I’d show you what made it into this Monday’s line-up…
So I haven’t been too adventurous with my picks in the complexion category and there’s a tonne of stuffed I’ve raved about many times before including the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer, Estée Lauder Perfectionist Foundation in 1W2, CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation in B10, Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Light Warm and the Tacha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist. Though when it comes to cheeks there are a few new things to note. For blush I’ve gone back the BECCA Beach Tint in Fig for the sheeny finish and subtle colour and actually there’s a bit of a BECCA theme going on because the Lowlight/Highlight Perfecting Palette and Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone also make an appearance. The former I got because Nic used it on me when she did my makeup and the latter might just be my favourite highlighter of all time. I know – big claim. For bronzer I’ve gone back to the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer because it’s been a long while since I got on that fax tanning train.
For eyes you know I’m all about those one wash wonders, so for a speedy, kinda taupe-y lid I’ve got the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Bronzed Taupe, By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock and Giorgio Armani’s Eye Tint in 10 just as quickie lid colours that I can throw on, blend and go. For occasions when I want to get a little fancier I thought that the combination of Charlotte Tilbury’s Eyeshadow Quad in The Vintage Vamp and Dolce Vita would be able to see me though. Incase I need something smokey on the lashline or nude on the waterline I have the Charlotte Tilbury Rock ‘N’ Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencils in Marlene Midnight, Barbarella Brown and Eye Cheat and for mascara I’m just IN LOVE with the Isehan Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara. When it comes to brows I’ve been enjoying the combination of Anastasia’s Brow Wiz in Soft Brown (a freshly picked repurchase) and NYX’s Brow Mascara in Brunette. Oh and primer-wise I thought I’d see how the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion fares as it’s seriously been years since I last used this stuff.
For lips the selection is actually pretty small. I’ve got a few nude options; including Fleur de Force’s Lipgloss in Written in the Stars for if I fancy something nude and with a sheen. Then there’s Tom Ford’s Lip Colour in First Time which might be a little pale for this time of year for some, but I like it just softly patted into the lips. For something a bit more mauve I reach for MAC’s Lipstick in Mehr and the bold category is being looked after exclusively by the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned. Will I ever tire of this colour? I think not…
