My Concealer & Powder Stash: What’s Left?

IMG_1596 IMG_1602 IMG_1603

I have a feeling that my concealer and powder drawer is the last one that hasn’t been put under my ‘What’s Left?‘ microscope. If you’re interested to see what else remains after my mega clear-out then I’ve shown you what survived of my nail polish, cheek products, lip stuff, foundations, primers and sprays, eyeshadow and eyeshadow palettes. Come to think of it I haven’t covered eyeliners and mascaras, so perhaps I’ll pop up that sometime soon. In the meantime though I thought I’d talk through one of my emptier drawers, but nonetheless and important part of my routine because man I love me some concealer, and occasionally a powder…

I’ll cover powders first because there really isn’t that much to talk about. My favourite powder of all is the MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural, which I have in Medium and Light Plus. I love it because it’s so darn natural looking on the skin, doesn’t look like powder at all and actually provides a bit of glow which is always a good thing in my books. The Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder in Vanille is somewhere in the middle of the three that I own in that it mattifies things down, but still allows a bit of my natural oils to make an appearance. Plus it’s a bargain. The Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin-Perfecting Micro-Powder in 1 Fair is an shine-zapping formula, but is still pretty fine in texture so I like to hang onto it just incase my face decides to turn into the consistency of a greasy frying pan.

There’s a little more to talk about on the concealer front because if I don’t get a good seven or eight hours sleep a night I get kinda baggy and dark in the undereye area – Thanks Genes! The L’Oreal Perfect Match Concealer in 2 Vanille is a good, light everyday option that’s a little orange-toned so helps to cancel out any grey under my eyes. If it’s radiance though that I’m after then I reach for the YSL Touche Eclat in 2. Two slightly more heavy-duty formulas are the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer in Light 18 which is thin enough to be used on dark circles, but hefty enough to say goodbye to blemishes and the It Cosmetics Bye, Bye Undereye in Light, which if I’m honestly I still haven’t got fully to grips with yet. This consistency is thick and I keep it more because whenever I hear other people talk about it, it makes me want to use it again. Any tips are appreciated! Up until recently I was using the Urban Decay Naked Concealer in Light Warm everyday, but now that’s run out and done and dusted, I’m back to loving the Estée Lauder Doublewear Stay-In-Place Concealer in Extra Light which is oh-so-creamy and does a bloody good job of covering up the fact that I’ve been up all night watching Marcia Clark interviews on YouTube. Gotta love Marcia.
