It’s Sunday. It’s been a long week and right now all I want to do is submerge myself into a sweet smelling bath with a shedload of bubbles, flick on RuPaul’s Race and slowly turn into a prune. And luckily with a quiet Sunday stretched out ahead of me I think I may just do exactly that. So pamper time it is and as always with a change of season comes a switch of product line-ups. Gone are the tan-me-up, bright coral manis of summertime and say hello the hydrators with a hefty dose of dewy and a pumpkin spice shower gel that smells so good I’m seriously tempted to have a lil’ taste…
For hair I’ve gone back to an oldie but a goodie – Liz Earle Botanical Shine Shampoo and Conditioner. I used to use this SLS-free combo back when I was at Uni and there’s something about the scent that takes me back. Fruity, fresh and with a formula that leaves my hair oh-so-clean. A nice alternative to the ‘rough-it-up’ textures that I usually use, it’s been making my hair über glossy and shiny for once.
You know that pumpkin spice shower gel I was talking about? Well, it’s the Philosophy Pumpkin Icing Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath and it smells beyond delicious. I’m sure there are knock-offs out there that are a tad more friendly to the bank balance but a sweet and spicy bath is exactly what you want on cosy autumn nights, non? When I’ve towelled myself off I’ve been using a thin layer of the St Tropez Everyday Body Lotion in Medium/Dark, firstly for its moisturising properties but also for the fact that I’m still desperately trying to hold on to my holiday tan even though it’s long gone.
Though today I plan on keeping the majority of my routine that same as usual there are a few bits I’m going to add in to oomph up the moisture a little. Firstly the MV Organics Rose Hydrating Mist which is basically like a really refreshing drink for your face. It’s a good waker-upper if you’re feeling groggy and just helps whatever I smooth on over the top to have a bit more slip. When the weather gets cooler, my cheeks get redder and by Christmas my nose does resemble Rudolph, so to tone that down I’ve been using the Pai Instant Calm Redness Serum which does exactly what it says on the tin and then finishing off with the Avene Rich Skin Recovery Cream. My lips are ridiculously dry at the moment so I’m going to finish off my routine with a good slathering of the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish which is another one that smells good enough to eat.
Watchers of The Weekly Vlogs will know that I’ve been a little slack on the manicure front recently, but I’m turning things around with this new shade that’s to-be-released in November from CHANEL. It’s their Le Vernis in 71 Laque Rouge and I’m not sure that nail colour gets classier than it. It’s just one of those classic colours that I think could very easily become my winter go-to; plus it layers up well and unlike some of my other CHANEL’s isn’t too chippy in the tip department. To finish things off nicely I take a dollop of the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Moisturising Hand Treatment and work it in on my hands, forearms – heck, even shoulders if I’ve put a bit too much on. Autumn pamper complete.
Now it’s time for me to go and get my prune on…
