I’m still on a bit of a minimal makeup mission at the moment. I think it’s a combination of the hot weather and me craving more time in bed in the mornings – we’ve all been there, eh! But I’ve found a nice little beauty product combo that has been getting me through the last week featuring some new products and maybe even a few surprises…
First up, I sense a rave coming on. After initially being disappointed with the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick formula compared to the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimiteds, which I found to be of similar sheenly levels but much more pigmented, I have now come round to the Chanel balmy lipstick offering. I’m sure this has something to do with the colour I own, Evasion – it’s the perfect Summer light nudey coral and I can now forgive it for it’s poor staying power. This has been gracing my lips all week! For my base makeup, I may need to issue a retractment statement as I have been liking using a light dusting of the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder in Natural Beige. Now as I said, this doesn’t really work as a full on mineral powder foundation for me, but a quick layer all over with my Japonesque Powder Brush* seems to work really well – it gives a light coverage, is a good match for my skintone and gives a natural finish. Yep, I know – eating my words there! Some days I have been completely skipping concealer (though looking back at this picture I really shouldn’t!), and just brushing a small amount of bronzer or highlighter over the cheeks. I’m still stuck on using the Burberry Sheer Summer Glow Highlighter* (full review here), with my MAC 150 Brush all over my apples as it just gives a nice healthy glow to my face. Sadly all my eyelash extensions have fallen out so it’s back to mascara for me and of course that means rekindling my love with the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers and the L’oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara. Not as dramatic as my lash extension look, but it’ll have to do!
