Over the past few days I have been in the presence of some pretty darn talented Makeup Artists. I’m sure some people they makeover don’t give two hoots about what they are using on their faces; but me, well, I practically had out a little notepad! I kept a sneaky eye out when I visited backstage at London Fashion Week (blog post here), and hounded the Makeup Artist who was doing the makeup at a BaByliss shoot that I was at yesterday (more on that at a later date!). After a bit of detective work I noticed that at both there were the same 3 products that kept on cropping up, oh yes, I present you the ‘Makeup Artist Favourites’….
The Bioderma Crealine H20 Cleansing Solution is something that I have mentioned and raved about before, and there was not one makeup station that I saw backstage at LFW that didn’t have this on it. It’s a micellar solution which means that it combines water and oil to create an effective yet non-greasy makeup remover. I have been using this every night to take my makeup off recently, you can see I’ve almost used half the bottle – baby wipes are now a thing of the past! I need to stock-up soon from my usual ebay seller.
Elizabeth Arden 8-hour Cream is something that I picked up years ago. I remember reading that Rachel Bilson was a fan, and being an OC junkie I needed it! I tend to use this as a lip balm, but backstage I saw this be used for a multitude of tasks – growing brows, as a cheek highlight, to add some shine to the eyelids. It really opened up my eyes to the many ways this can be used. Obviously I’m an oily skinned gal, so using this on my cheeks isn’t really going to work in an everyday setting, but for those of you with drier skins it might be worth giving it a whirl; and I’m going to try this on my eyelids to give a gloss.
Finally something I spotted in a plethora of colours at the shoot yesterday was MAC Face + Body Foundation. I was talking to the Makeup Artist there and she was saying how she mixes it with thicker foundations to make them more blendable whilst still getting coverage. She also said she uses it a lot at shoots on the body, which is actually what I have been using it for over the past few months. It makes a nice change to the Rimmel Sun Shimmer which I usually use to tan up my legs before a night out as it adds some colour whilst covering up any flaws I may have on my pins!
So there you have it, a few backstage observations I have made! See I always try to keep my peepers open for you guys!
