Recently I’ve got my mitts on two new(-ish) launches for lips and tips and I’m equally in love with both of them. Both are from brands that get an all-round thumbs up from me and I’m telling you now that all the following items are going to be real staples in my beauty stash from now on. Oh yeah…
So first up we have the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils. Do you remember these? They were part of a collection a few months back, sold out in a matter of days and were never to be seen again….UNTIL NOW! Lily was one of the lucky ones that managed to nab one first time round and I used to whimper and watch as she applied it because I’ve always had a soft spot for Clarins‘ lip products. I went from counter to counter to enquire about their whereabouts but they were never to be found. So to say that I’m pretty excited to finally be able to try these is a slight understatement. They’re now back permanently and there are two to choose from: 01 Honey and 02 Raspberry. Though this corresponds to the colour of the product, don’t be fooled because they are straight-up transparent so it’s purely a matter of scent here. I think I prefer the Raspberry because it’s slightly more fruiter than the almost floral smelling Honey version. They are soft and slippy on the lips and hella’ glossy; but this wears of after 30 minutes or so and your lips just feel nice and nourished for a fair few hours after application. The only downside is that a tad too much product comes off on the gigantic doe-foot applicator, though it’s nothing that a bit of wiping off can’t recover and hey – ain’t nothing damping my excitement at finally getting to try these.
Then when I was in Space NK the other day finalising my Christmas gift guide with a few purchases, I turned my attention to the Smith & Cult display. Now you already know that I’m a HUGE fan of Doe My Dear. It’s a beautiful polish, lovely formula, gorgeous bottle to look at – it’s probably my favourite nail colour right now. So I thought it was about time that I expanded my collection and picked up the colours Dark Like Me and Stockholm Syndrome. WOW. Dark Like Me is a deep, berry, wine which doesn’t sound too exciting but because there’s a fair amount of purple in it, it’s pretty different to what I own already. Whereas Stockholm Syndrome is like the winter-version of Doe My Dear. It’s the smokier cousin that’s slightly more blue-toned and lilac. I bloomin’ love it. They’re not a cheap purchase, but they’re fast becoming my go-to brand for nail colour. I think I should steer-clear from their counter for a while…
