I’m not really one for ‘What I got for Christmas’ posts, as much as I love to have a nosey at others myself; this is mainly due to the fact a truckload of socks, my pyjamas (GAP Pure Body ones, that I highly recommend) and a new pack of tea coasters might not make the most colourful of posts. People usually steer clear of buying me beauty bits for fear of me owning them already or me turning my nose up, so stick to much-appreciated safe bets. But this year was different, I requested a few items from Laura Mercier and dutifully my Mum took her first ever trip into a Space NK store and made me one very happy lady. She mentioned that the staff were very nice and that everything was very expensive, giving me a knowing look that she has now worked out what percentage of my bank balance goes to funding my beauty habit. Like most good things in the beauty world this candle is limited edition, clambering onto to shelves during the Christmas build-up, then disappearing till next year. But its seasonally availability doesn’t ruff me up one bit as I can’t think of a better time of year to whip it out and give it a burn. Vanilla, nutmeg and cloves all come together with a big hit of chestnut, as the name would suggest, to give a comfortingly sweet scent. Think Yankee Candle Christmas Cookie with with a bit more nuttiness and a touch more sophisticated outer – a hint of a snakeskin print? Noooice. I haven’t had much chance to give it a good ol’ burn just yet but it is making my wardrobe a bit whiffy just sitting there which is a sign of good things to come. Non?
Ready for the best bit? It’s currently half price in the Space NK sale – shhhhh don’t tell my Mum, it’s sold out online but you may be able to bag a bargain instore. Full price this will set you back £29 but in the flurry of post-Christmas beauty bargains it’s now £14.50. The other signature scents Laura Mercier offers up every Christmas have also been thrown in the sale and I may have had to pick up a different scent for myself. One thing is for sure, my flat is going to smell pretty darn good…
