I’m never one to shy away from giving a new face base a road-test; from the fullest coverage foundation bad-boys to BB creams and tinted moisturisers they’ve all graced my face at one point or another in time, and currently on rotation is the Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint*. Just the title pressed all my ‘good base vibe’ buttons – luminizing, moisturising, tinted? So while everyone’s revving up the coverage and clambering back on the matte-finish bandwagon for winter, I’m still trying to grip on to the somewhat summery and unseasonal glow with this. Here’s the breakdown…
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such an accurate title for a product as it really does exactly what is says on the tin. Luminizing? Yep, it’s D-to-the-ewy. Moisturising? Could well skip the stuff in the morning. Tinted? It’s certainly not lacking in the coverage stakes. In fact I would say this is a light-to-medium foundation-like texture with some serious glow, that when put in direct sunlight will shimmer until the cows come home. Sheeny in all the right places and superbly blendable, it applies like skin with a built-in highlighter popping out cheekbones, cupids bow and brow bones, with enough coverage to ease up concealer use. I find this works well with my normal to slightly oily complexion, but extremely oily gals beware as this could well easily cross over the line into straight-up oiliness for you, however there is a matte version – so keep your eyes peeled for a review on that. Wear time is good, your standard eight hours or so before a touch-up is needed and although I don’t tend to wear it with powder – I can see that in the summer this would need a quick dust on the T-zone just to avoid complete shimmer-central. To see what it looks like in real-time and to see me applying it, check out my latest video.
My only grumble is that Jouer is a bit of an online-only deal in the UK at the moment, available from Cult Beauty, and I’m a swatchy person – I love doing the whole smearing on the face and legging it outside with a mirror shindig when it comes to selecting colours.  FYI I have the second to lightest shade, Pearl. The image sneak peeks of colours aren’t that great and even a google search doesn’t result in too many fab swatches to go by. KarlaSugar get on it! I have the set of four 5ml mini’s, which is perhaps a way of getting around the unswatchable problem – find a mate that thinks they’ll be the same shade as you and split the £15 cost, before taking the plunge and indulging in the full-size. Glowing, glimmering goodness – sorted.
