I’m a Virgo. Can you tell?
I love to organise. If you follow me on Snapchat, then you would have seen my glee after spending a sleepy Sunday afternoon clearing out and labelling items in my kitchen cupboards or the bags of stuff for the charity shop after having a rake through my wardrobe and getting into the swing of the capsule experiment again (seriously, I swear my clothing multiplies when I’m not looking). Of course the fact that I’m even needing to do these tasks, show that I’m not my most organised and tidy self 100% of the time, but when I’m giving it a good go, I just feel better. Less stressed, more in control and in the big hamster wheel of being self-employed, I actually feel like I’m working through a to-do list. Kinda.
So today I thought I’d share my tips for scheduling, planning and general life admin (yep, even the boring bits). Now it’s quite a process, so it’s a pretty long video – but if you hang on in there then hopefully they’ll be some takeaway tips. Like how to factor in friends and family time so you actually get round to seeing people you really want to see, how to make effective lists where you’ll be able to tick-off all the items in the required time and goal setting for the year, month, week and day. Yeah, it might be a little meaty for some (fellow Virgos, I’m guessing this will be right up your street), but it’s something that I really enjoy talking about and the more I chat about it, the more I feel like I have to practice what I preach. I have to say, I filmed this video on Monday and since then, things have been pretty productive (aside from the hour I wasted yesterday looking at Christmas Jumpers on ASOS).
I also thought I’d throw in some of my current stationery crushes (ooooh notebooks *rubs thighs*). So have a look at the bits and bobs below if you’re in the market for a new notebook. I personally use the Appointed Notebooks for my editorial calendars and general notes and then their Weekly Planner to write down my daily to-do lists. However this Pink Marble Notebook from Urban Outfitters is stunning (I keep picking it up in-store and putting it back down again – what a fool!) and this Banana Leaves Notebook would look right at home on my desk. It seems like my lipstick addition has been replaced by notepads. Fellow stationery freaks, where you at?
