So my new beauty storage system arrived yesterday and I can finally be done with my ‘makeup stored in sandwich bags thrown into a cardboard box’ set-up which served its purpose for a few weeks, but meant I had to do a lot of digging whenever I wanted to fish out an old favourite from the archives. I grouped my makeup into categories, printed out a label that I’d stick onto each drawer when my storage finally arrived and zipped ’em up. Most categories could be squeezed into one medium size sandwich bag, but when it came to bases I think I ended up with three. THREE?! That’s three sandwich bags full to the brim with tinted moisturisers, BB’s, full coverage bases – the lot. I knew I had a bit of a weakness when it came to foundations, but it this just confirmed it all. Now I’ve done a bit of a googling regarding the Hourglass Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint and in the UK it’s a bit of a tricky one. It was previously available over here, but only in a handful of colours and packaged up in a glass bottle, whereas in the US there’s 12 shades and it’s housed in a travel-friendly squeezy tube. Now it looks like it’s been discontinued here (every shade is out of stock on Space NK online) but I do remember seeing somewhere that it was due to be released in the plastic tube packaging v.soon, so it’s on its way to these shores again. Hold tight!
Stocking issues addressed, it’s what’s inside that counts, right? Well don’t be fooled by the ‘Tint‘ in the title here because this stuff packs a punch in the coverage department. I’d pip it as more of a medium to full coverage foundation. It might be full in finish, but the texture it leaves behind is almost glossy, so if you love a bit of dewy then this is right up your street. Combo/dry peeps rejoice! It’s almost like Chantecaille’s Just Skin, but with a bit more coverage and a bit more staying power. I have the shade Ivory which is a good match for me and due to the thick nature of the product I prefer it best slapped on with a Louise Young LY34 Foundation Brush and then worked in with a damp BeautyBlender, though fingers work well too.
I hate to sound cliche, but it’s good skin in a bottle, or tube, or whatever form it comes in these days…
