MAC and I have a bit of a on/off relationship. Back in the day when I discovered there was more to explore in the beauty world than the aisles of Boots I went a little cray cray, stowed away MAC eyeshadows in double-digit numbers and possessed quite the penchant for their lipsticks. But in recent times, though their lippies will always hold a special place in my heart – Patisserie and Shy Girl are my current colour crushes – things have been looking a little bleak on the MAC front. That was until I was bullied into a purchase of their newly released Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Eclair and the MAC ball was placed back into rolling motion. A quick trip into their Carnaby Street Pro store each time I’ve popped into town and before you know it, I’ve acquired some mini MAC haulage.
Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Eclair was the one that kicked off the rediscovery. Already raved about here, it’s a rust coloured pot of creamy eyeshadow goodness that I’ll be cracking out for days when I want a faux smokey eye. Love, love, lurve. A bit of a random one that I threw into the basket on a whim was their Fix +, a product that I spritzed my way through years ago on a multitude of uses and completely forgot about. It’s one of those products that everyone has, but we’re all a little stumped on how to use it, but I like it to dewy-up my base post makeup application (along with these) or mixed with eyeshadows to make a more creamy texture with a foiled finish. It’s a good addition whenever I’m in the mood for makeup playtime.
Two complexion old favourites were also repurchased. I still own a bottle of MAC Face + Body Foundation from years ago, but the high water content in the formula meaning that it’s gone off and the fact that the colour match was a little dark from my tanned-up Uni days (N3 I think), I decided to grab a fresh bottle of a much more suitable shade, C2. Nice light coverage, easily buildable, a skin-like finish but – unfortunately it’s the front runner for the cause of my skin’s recent rage. I can’t push the blame on it 100% yet, but I’m testing my little theory out. All is not lost though this comes in very handy when exposing my pins to cover up my psoriasis patches. Another second-timer is their Moisturecover Concealer (I picked up the shade NC20). I have fond memories of striping this all over my face back in the day as the finish is pretty darn perfect. It may not be covering enough for some people, but its high hydration properties and just the right dose of pigment make this a good choice or dotting over bags (or striping wherever you need a tad of evening out) for a daily face.
Although I appear to have maxed out my wishlist and only have one product outstanding that isn’t currently in my grasps as it’s always sold out – their Blush Powder in Harmony – for the meantime I’m well and truly back into MAC.
