FOTD – MAC Soba

I blogged about my MAC palettes last week, and there I told the tales of my crazy ‘need-every-eyeshadow-they-make’ heyday, but how I have come to my senses and now actually own 7, well-thought out shades that can be used to create everything from a simple everyday neutral eye, to a more sexed-up evening look. With a lone Milani eyeshadow making up the numbers, I thought it was time to throw that out (I realised that I had owned it for 7 years – gross!), leaving a space in my palette for one more MAC eyeshadow. I’m not sure what led me to this purchase, but I picked up the shade Soba, one that I haven’t heard to much about, but I have worn it on my lids everyday since I got it. It’s a satin finish, although I thought it was a lustre as it has quite a crumbly texture, the colour is pretty unique – think a sheeny version of MAC  Wedge! A gorgeous mid-toned brown slight golden shimmers, this adds slightly more definition that my usual MAC All That Glitters shadow, whilst still being subtle. A wash of Soba all over the lids with my MAC 217 Brush and I’m good to go!
I’ve also been testing out the new Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation, which I am also wearing in this photo. It’s Chanel’s latest foundation release that is supposed to replace both their previous Mat Lumiere and Pro Lumiere formulas. Overall, the shade range is good (I’m wearing the shade B30 here for reference), it gives a nice coverage, natural finish and is actually pretty long-lasting. For lovers of Mat Lumiere I’m pretty sure that this foundation will please, but if you are looking for the dewy finish of Pro Lumiere then look elsewhere as this foundation is definitely more on the matte side of proceedings. But you know what? I think I’m going to hold off purchasing it – although it’s nice enough, it just doesn’t beat my Jemma Kidd Light As Air foundation, so I’m going to save my pennies and save myself £36 for once! Perhaps I am turning over a new leaf  😉
