No-Budge Concealer & Oily Pouts

Five Things

It’s time to bundle together the best of beauty, fashion and everything in between from the past seven days. Edited down to five of the top products, videos, posts, releases and the rest that have had me clicking away:

1. A Mascara to Rival Fairydrops? If you missed yesterday’s post then have a read because I’ve found a new mascara to add to my current lash loving one man band that is the Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara. It’s the Estée Lauder Little Black Primer and it’s the perfect for no makeup, makeup days where you want something on your lashes, but it to look like you’re wearing nothing. In fact it gives them such a separated appearance that it can look like lash extensions if you build it up. Together these two have my back in the mascara department.

2. Bourjois Bring it on the Eyeshadow Stick Front. I’ve been having a play with Bourjois‘ latest launch – the Colourband Ombré Eyeshadow Sticks – and I’m pleased to report back that they are awesome. They’re not the most opaque washes of colour, but I like that the sheerness is easy to build up and blend out and they work well as an all over the lid shade or just on the lashline as a thick eyeliner. I’ll report back with a full review soon.

3. I’m a Juicing Convert. I don’t know why it took me so long to get on the juicing train, but last week I finally took the plunge and ordered the Magixmix Le Duo XL Juice Extractor in an Amazon spree and I’m beyond chuffed with it. It’s not too big (and therefore doesn’t eat up too much space in our tiny kitchen) and it’s been a good way to chug down greens when I’m in a rush. The book I mentioned last week, ‘Deliciously Ella, has served as my juicy recipe inspiration.

4. A Balm/Gloss Lip Hybrid. So lip oils are a thing now? Interesting. I’ve got the Clarins one on my shopping list, but I’ve been giving the YSL Huile Volupte a go and once you get over the extremely nauseating melon scent, it’s a really interesting concept. Hydrating like a balm, and high shine like a gloss there’s an element in the formula that stains your lips over time meaning that once the sheen wears off there’s a hint of colour there. Another one that I’ll report back on soon.

5. The Concealer That Really Does Cover-Up. When it times of pimple need, there’s only one concealer that really does the trick – Laura Mercier’s Secret Camouflage (I use the shade SC-3). I bring this up because I’m struggling on the blemish front again and this really, truly, covers them up in a way that stays put and does not budge. A tough formula to get used to, but once you master it you’ll never stray.
