To round-up the week I thought I’d take you through some newly added items to my stash that have been floating my beauty boat since their arrival. You know me, I love my old favourites and the majority of the contents of my dressing table go-to box (see what’s inside here) have been hashed out round these parts many times before, so today I’m sticking to the fresh bits and bobs that I might have only tested a handful of times, but I foresee reaching true HG status in time…
L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation in 03. You might have spotted this already in my May Favourites, but for the past two weeks this has been my daily foundation of choice, well – whenever I can be arsed to wear it. The shade is pretty perfect for my slightly faux glowed complexion and the coverage is light to medium and great for everyday – though I find it to be pretty buildable in areas of redness too. I think the reason why I love it so much is that it’s so easy to apply. No pumps, no back of the hand business, no big blobs of product to blend out. I just smoosh a buffer brush into it and then begin to blend directly on my face. It really does take less than a minute to apply.
The Estée Edit The Edgiest Kohl ShadowStick in Spiced. I’ve tried a fair amount from this newly released line from Estée Lauder and I have to say that a lot of the items aren’t really up my alley, but this – well this is a winner. It’s a chunky cream eyeshadow pencil that can be used all over the lid or just smudged around the lashline for some extra smokiness. Personally I like just to press this into the outer corners of my upper lashline and then I take a brush just to smear it in some more. The formula is creamy, yet sets once it’s had time to dry down and it lasts well. The colour is spot-on too; a rusty copper that’s made for Olsen-esque eye looks.
REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist. This spritz has a long list of claims and fancy-schmansy ingredients, but really I just love it as a makeup setting mist – anything extra that it is doing for my complexion is a bonus. It’s a great refresher and once it’s had a minute or so to dry down it really doesn’t feel like there’s anything on your skin, except things look glowier. I’d say it’s a toned-down version of the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist in that gives a dewiness to the skin, but doesn’t feel as heavy. WIN.
Nannette De Gaspe Restorative Techstile Eye Masque. Lily popped up a post on these yesterday, so have a read of that if you want more information, but this new mask (that also comes in versions for the face, neck, hands and mouth) are certainly an intriguing one. It’s basically a dry-sheet mask – no gloppy-ness that gets in your hair – YAY. The formula and science are unleashed when the mask is lightly massaged once you apply it to the skin, you leave it on for 15 minutes, remove it, fold it up and put it back in the resealable pouch (each mask can be used 3 times for 15 minutes bursts) and I find the skin around my eyes to be brighter, more hydrated and a little bit plumper. A great one to invest in if you’ve got a big event in the diary soon.
CHANEL UV Essentiel Multi-Protection SPF 50. There are a tonne of newly released SPF’s this summer that fit the bill in that they’re not sticky, don’t leave a white/blue tint to the skin and don’t let their presence be known under makeup, but this is probably my favourite one. It does all of those things, whilst also providing an SPF 50 (there are SPF 20 and 30 versions too) and UVA and UVB protection, all packaged up in handy, super compact, travel friendly packaging. Now I just need to book a holiday…
