Dior Diorskin Nude BB Creme

Lisa Eldridge can sell me anything. But when I saw the Dior Diorskin Nude BB Creme in action in her Fuchsia-licious Lip video a go, it took approximately four hours for me to hot foot it to the nearest Dior counter and exit with it in hand. Fast work. With promises of a perfecting, glow-injecting coverage with a dewy finish and a dose of epidermis-loving ingredients it was about 10 minutes post-purchase before it l cracked it open. Impatient, me? No, never. 

See, here’s the deal. On the day that it landed in my hands I’d been out and about; by 5pm there was nothing except a small scrap of concealer hanging onto my complexion for dear life, the rest had gone kaput (note to self: use primer woman). I was on my way to dinner with a mate and decided mid-tube ride to whip on my new purchase. Not the most hygienic nor dignified of choices but on it went, a pump palmed onto to each side of my face guided by my reflection in my iPhone screen. I was unaware of the finished result but upon greeting my friend, she commented on my glowing face. Score. After my en route experiment, I’ve found that fingers work best to apply this BB, it looks more natural and things can look a little matte when the Buffing Brush comes into play. I take a small pump onto my fingers, massage onto my my chin, forehead and cheeks and then take my other hand to blend it in. A dewy-ish, skinlike finish is achieved (heads up, I have the shade 002) and it sticks around for a good few hours or so before I need an extra dab onto my nozzle. Paired with mascara and a good ol’ lip balm it’s fuss-free makeup perfection.

Now there’s not an official roster of BB requirements, but with the skincare additions to the formula being a little thin on the ground – there’s nothing too exciting till about halfway through the ingredients list – and with the coverage being a more on the light-to-medium side of things I’d be tempted to put this into the tinted moisturiser compartment of my collection. It’s a good spot to be in though, plus I sport a ‘smug Cheshire cat-type grin’ whenever I can proclaim that I’ve left the house with just a ‘BB cream’ on. A marketer’s dream, me.

In terms of how it stands in the BB/tinted moisturiser rankings, it’s somewhere in between the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint and Luminising Moisture Tint finish-wise and offers a tad more coverage, it’s slightly heavier and less radiant in results compared to the Dr Jart+ Water Fuse BB Cream and up against the Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser it’s less glowy and covering. One of the aforementioned bases is all that’s needed but all in all, a good all-rounder that I’ll be pulling out on lazy days and rare ‘ok‘ skin occasions.
