Clinique Black Honey: for Red Scaredy Cats

You’ve heard me rave on and on about how awesome the Clinique All About Shadow in Black Honey is; antiqued bronze lid perfection – but who knew there’s a whole Black Honey dynasty beyond the pan? Lips, tips and liners are all offered up by Clinique that all follow the ‘red, but not red’ suit and yep I can confirm they hit the beauty spot in the same arrow to the heart way as the shadow. With burnished burgundy tones that play to the turning of the seasons and a subtle nod to colour I deem these the perfect remedy for rouge scardedy cats. Want to rock a red lip or play with a bit of amber around the eyes, but don’t know where to start? I have just the ticket for you…

Clinique A Different Nail Enamel in Black Honey – at the moment I’m pretty dedicated to CHANEL Rouge Noir on my tips and if it isn’t that then it’s a Rouge Noir look-a-like. Enter Black Honey – a blackened red that encapsulates chic, yet understated air. Is it a black? Is it a red? Gawd knows, it’s just beautiful. The formula’s a good’un too – four days chip-free and still going strong.

Clinique Brush-on Cream Liner in Black Honey – red toned eyeliner is a toughie. Too pink and it looks like you’re suffering from well….you know. Too dark and you might just as well be wearing brown. Black Honey sits somewhere right in the middle – an amber/brown hybrid if you will, that frames green or pale eyes perfectly. I’ve been wearing it stroked on the top and bottom lash lines with the included brush, but the makeup maverick inside of me wants to test this out smeared all over the eyes. I’ll have to get back to you on that one.

Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey – there has long been a void in my lipstick collection for a colour that satisfies a thirst for colour without being too ‘in yer face’. Well now it has been filled. Black Honey deposits a light wash of wine with a good dose of moisture and all without the need for a mirror. I love these kinds of shades; easy to wear, it’s a no-brainer lipstick that works equally well with a bare lid look or something a little bolder.

Those who are rouge-wary are out of excuses. Time to crack out the Black Honey baby.
