CHANEL collections always make me all swoony, but their newest – Les Beiges Summer ’15 – has got me all hot under the collar with its bronzy hues and nods to sun-blushed pinks. When it comes to high-end beauty ranges, CHANEL is up there as one of my favourites. They define natural-looking bases, effortless colour and products that make you feel a little more chic in just one swipe and these latest additions to the range are no exception. Getting a CHANEL compact out on the tube is #MakeupGoals, non?
Of course, as with any collection, there are items that completely blow your socks off and others that, although pretty, won’t hurt to pass unless you’re feeling super spendy. I’ll begin with those that whilst still dreamy, are the most dupable. I think there are two nail colours that have been launched with limited edition availability as part of this drop, though I’ve only given one a go – the Le Vernis Nail Colour in Beige Pur. It’s a sandy pale, pinky beige and though there’s pigment in it if you whack on a fair few layers, on the whole it’s pretty sheer and makes your nails look more polished than coloured. The other thing I’d suggest perhaps passing is a surprising one as it’s certainly the prettiest piece from the launch, but as someone who already has a tonne of bronzers, the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Colour in Mariniere No.02 isn’t a need need, though it pains me to say it. The striped compact gives off a ‘back from the beach’, honey hue without shimmer which is nice, though it’s probably the other colour they’ve released Mariniere No.01, a little peachier offering, which is the more unique of the two.
Right onto the loves. Now this wasn’t a ‘love at first sight’ thing, but the Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Cheek Stick in Blush No.20 is quite literally, cream sun rays. It’s a brown mixed with pink and just the right dose of golden shimmer. It melts into the cheeks and as the name would suggest just makes you look healthy. I actually bring this higher up on the cheek than I normally would and stripe it almost on the tops of my cheekbones to mimic where the sun would naturally hit on the face. The final thing is something that has lived in my handbag since I got it – the Healthy Glow Hydrating Lip Balm in No.10. It might not look much but on my lips it imparts the perfect blend of pigment and hydration, because you can never have enough pinky, barely there lip balms, right? At least that’s what I tell myself…
