When Bumble and Bumble release a new product, my ears immediately prick up. But they are well and truly pricked when there are promises of lived-in looking locks thrown into the mix. On paper the due to be released this month, City Swept Finish had me in the palm of it’s hand. A finishing mist with a weightless texture all resulting in a ‘street-styled’ finish which to me means sweaty and frazzled tube hair after boiling with fellow commenters in your winter coat – got to love the marketing bumf. But I have to say on this one it’s not as up my street as I originally anticipated. Hear me out on this one…
Where this one differs and quite refreshingly so, from other stylers promising volume and mess in the hair department is that it falls into the category of a wax/cream/hairspray hybrid. Ain’t no dry texturising spray to be seen here. You spray into blow-dried tresses in sections and end up with separated definition with a hint of shine and hold. It’s a good mix, but it’s not for me; a little too piece-y, an attribute I always associate with greasiness. Perhaps something I’d rock more in the summer – it actually really reminds me of the Oribe Après Beach Spray which gets dug out at that time of year – it’s beach babe in a bottle fo’ sure. Shorter haired lasses who like things to look layered listen up, but fellow dry hair lovers *raises hand* stick to their good ol’ Dryspun Finish.
