BECCA Buying: A New Palette Rundown

IMG_1029IMG_0990

Do you remember back in the day when BECCA was horrendously hard to find in the UK? I used to moon over videos of the Pixiwoo sisters using the Shimmering Skin Perfector and mentally note down that one day that stuff must be mine (side note: it is and yes it’s lush). Thankfully it’s now much easier to find on these shores. Heck – some Space NK’s even have a counter! After my whole love affair with the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop and my current lust for Moonstone I thought it was time to dig into the brand a little deeper and placed an order on good ol’ Cult Beauty. The next day my box arrived – aren’t they good? – and I could not be more chuffed with what was inside…

I picked up two things under the guise of ‘Christmas Gift Guide research’ and let me tell you, they are both contenders (the first part is coming your way on Wednesday). So the newly released Afterglow Palette and Ombre Rouge Eye Palette are now mine. I had attempted to pick between the two, but we all know that that’s impossible. The thing is, that I reckon with just these two palettes you could be sorted for your blush, bronzer, highlight and eyeshadow look whatever the occasion – that is if you’re a fan of warm tones.

So let’s talk the Afterglow Palette. This one contains a bit of variety and inside there’s the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone, Rose Gold and Topaz and then the Mineral Blush in Wild Honey and Flowerchild. Beautifully blendable, with just the right amount of pigment to make you go ‘ooohhh‘ when you swatch it, the formula is spot-on. Personally on my complexion, I plan to use Moonstone as my highlight (OMG it’s my favourite highlighter right now), Rose Gold and Topaz as eyeshadows, then Wild Honey as a bronzer and Flowerchild as my blush. I’ve heard a lot about the latter shade and I can see why. It’s sort of everything I hoped NARS Orgasm would be.

Whilst the Afterglow brings the shimmer, the Ombre Rouge brings the matte which is why they are perfect partners for each other. There is a slight satin finish to two of the colours, but when they’re applied there’s nothing shimmery going on. Sadly there are no names, but from left to right there’s a creamy beige, dusty pink, warm tan, orange brown and a reddy chocolate. Be careful of the dusty pink which can give off some fall-out, but persist as the colour is a beaut as there’s nothing wrong with the formula of the others. I mean, just look at that warm eye in the picture above. Here I’ve tried to apply every single colour from the two palettes and all I’ve used extra is a bit of foundation, concealer, brow product, mascara and balm. Two great travel additions I’d say and yes I think I can find some room in my Christmas Gift Guide video. The inn isn’t full just yet…
