If you haven’t heard of BeautyMART (cue ‘have you been living under a rock?’ line) then I’ll give you the back story. Two makeup maverns Millie Kendall (beauty brand creator and the Millie from Ruby & Millie) and Anna-Marie Solowj (beauty journo for the past 20 years, including a six year stint as Beauty Director at Vogue) join forces and birth the BeautyMART brand. A place that shares and sells and edited pick of beauty bits that come with the duo’s very own seal of approval. They’re online, based in Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge and currently have their very own little pop up at Boxpark in Shoreditch, which I perused the other day and thanks to a lovely reader and B.M gal, Lisa, ended up leaving a little lighter in wallet. Standard.
There was much more that caught my eye, but I kept things pretty restrained with just two new items to add to my stocks: James Read’s Sleep Mask Tan and Homeoplasmine, pictured along with an extremely planned photoboothing sesh with Amelia and Lily, just in case you wanted to see what sort of bumf I pin up on my fridge. So the former has Anna written all over it – an overnight mask-esque product with a tint of tan? Well I have to say I’m a little disappointed, I woke up the next morning with no noticeable ‘have you been on holiday?‘ change in complexion and my eyes felt a little irritated. I think I’ll be sticking to my Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning Lotion, but I’m still ingruied by James Read – the BB Gradual Tan is next on my to-try list. The latter? Well I’m in love. Homeplasmine is kinda the French version of Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, but with more of a matte finish, formulated to be used on any minor skin irritations. Right now it’s in use on my lips, knees and any psorasis patches I’ve got hanging around and it’s doing a good job. Hey, if I had a penny for every French pharmacy skincare product I fell in love with, eh?Â
