Who remembers the VDM days when I had no eyebrows and resembled the shade of an oompha loompa? Well, +2 reader points and a big thank you to you. Remember that I used to post ‘What’s On My Face’ style posts all the darn time? I loved ’em. Some of my favourite to prep, picture and post so I thought it was about time that I revisit that theme, go back to basics and do a little show and fell of what products I’ve been calling up each morning. I dub this the ‘Bare & Bold’ makeup menu – sounds like a bad porno but actually it’s just an in yer face lip with not much else going on:
FACE: MaxFactor Face Finity All Day Primer, CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua in B20, NARS Creamy Concealer in Vanilla, Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder in Medium, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Incandescent Light
EYES: MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in Medium (over the lids), L’Oreal Miss Manga Waterproof Mascara, Burberry Eye Definer in Golden Brown, Revlon Brow Fantasy in Brunette
LIPS: YSL Babydoll Kiss & Blush in 1
There’s the usual kind of stuff going on here but notable mentions go a few items. First up the MaxFactor Primer which is really rather good; not too drying or silicone-y and I find it helps my skin to quit sucking up my foundation. Also how have I just discovered Incandescent Light that came as part of my triple-panned Hourglass palette? It is seriously dreamy when it comes to highlighting. Of course there’s got to be a nod to the lip colour from YSL. This launched recently as part of their lip and cheek duo range and though I really like it for lips, for cheeks I find application to be a little bit troublesome. It’s long-lasting, pigmented stuff which means the area in which you dab it on first gets stained faster than you can blend it out meaning that you end up with a concentrated blob of colour somewhere on your apple. But for lips, it rocks. It’s all about being bold and bare baby. Oo er.
