Back to Brown

If you’ve missed out on me prattling on about my most recent hair dramz then I’ll direct you to this post, but the condensed ramble-free version is that I tried to go a little lighter, a bit ‘bronde’ if you will, it ended up a bit orange, I panic box dyed it a shade of Kardashian Simon Cowell black and then had it professionally lifted to my natural-ish colour – or as close as they could get to it.  My locks have been bleached to the max and whilst I appreciate the extra hold and texture my follicles have, I’m having to tend to them a little differently and give them a lot more love than before (again, see above linked post for all that jazz).

Speaking of bleach, I was warned by the peeps that restored me to #TeamBrunette status that things could fade, especially in the sun, and I’d have to go back for re-dyes every now and again. Cue L.A and a shedload of rays and before you know it things were getting a little too red again for my liking. Now having spent a small fortune on my dyeing debacle I thought I’d take matters into my own hands again and instead of picking up a near-black, permanent dye I’d go for something I’d tried and tested before – good ol’ L’Oreal Casting Creme Gloss.

I collaborated with them about a year back and can truly say it’s the easiest and shock-free way of hair colouring. Being semi-permanent you’re never going to get a dramatic shift in colour and it washes out eventually meaning you don’t have to worry about maintenance and your roots popping through. I went for Medium Brown as I didn’t want anything too dark (been there, done that, looked like I was wearing a wig) and got exactly what I wanted. Red-tones brought down a peg or two, my colour looks a bit more even and once again my natural(-ish) shade is restored. Oh and can we mentioned the amazing scent of the conditioner that comes in the pack?! I ration this stuff out for about 10 washes because the scent is just so darn moreish.

I have a feeling this Medium Brown dyeing sesh will be a regular thing and I ain’t complaining. The process takes just the right amount of time to watch ‘Don’t Tell the Bride’ in.
