An Oribe Maximista Dupe

So I seem to be on a dupe roll this week. I began with a like-for-like of CHANEL’s Le Vernis in Frenzy and now I’m moving onto locks for I think I’ve found a very similar formula for one of my old time favourite root oomphers – Oribe’s Maximista Thickening Spray.

It comes in the form of VO5’s Give Me Texture Tousled Style Spray. The clue is in the name here. If a matte, textured mop is your game then welcome to your new dressing table hair spritz of choice. I use this post-wash, pre-dry, mist generously onto sections before applying heat and the result is a lived-in look with volume, hold and for extra bonus points – heat protection. Nice addition VO5. An extremely similar result of that when I crack out the Oribe Maximista. The only thing that’s missing is the heady, Oribe perfumed scent which I am rather fond of. But everything else? Well, I can barely tell the difference and trust me I’ve raked through my strands trying to find it. Hair is roughed-up, with that just-washed edge taken off and I’m one happy bunny.

I’m no maths whizz but I’ve done some rough calculations and with the VO5 coming it at around 1/7th of the price, it’s fair to say it’s a bit of a bargain. Big hair in a bottle. And for a budget? Score.
