This week I had a bit of a turning point with my wardrobe. It was in that weird phase where there were still a few sleeveless summer numbers still hanging around, despite the fact I’ve been freezing my nuts off in the cool autumn weather and in all honestly since we’ve moved I’ve reached for the same two jumpers and one pair of jeans whenever I need to act like a real adult and slip out of my loungewear uniform. I just wasn’t very happy with what was inside. Some items were looking a little raggedy and others were ill-fitting; my wardrobe just didn’t feel very ‘me‘. This clothing crossroads coincided with the discovery of Caroline’s blog Unfancy (take a look – it will make you want to clear out your wardrobe after reading it for about 3 seconds) and so my capsule wardrobe experiment began. I’ll save all the deats for another day, but of course this meant picking up some new pieces to give things a refresh. Here’s what’s on my wishlist/this wishlist made me so swoony when I was putting it together that I may have purchased a few things most of it…
Caroline’s blog reminded me what a gem ALDO is when it comes to boots. I’ve had a few from there before and they’ve always been comfortable (after a few wears) and hardy so I’ve been eying up the Etiwiel’s – a pointed toe, black Chelsea boot and the Innocentina’s – a snakeskin effect boot in a similar shape. I know the latter purchase will cause me to be ridiculed by my parents for weeks on end, but they look like a funky way to jazz up a boring outfit and there’s something about a statement boot that I love.
On my clothing radar are ZARA and REISS. I haven’t shopped in ZARA for yonks, but I always end up finding good coats in there with a not-too-horrendous price tag and this year’s find was their Fleece Lined Parka which sounds ridiculously warm. I’m also eyeing up their Colour Block Knit which looks perfect for lazy, casual weekends. Another cosy find is the REISS Rachelle Grey Marl Merino Wool Jumper which is a nice boyfriend-fit almost, jumper and just look at that Amira Tan Leather Mini Skirt. I’m not one for skirts really, but I’m considering taking the plunge here.
Accessory-wise I’ve found some stunners in REISS again. This Leopard Print Scarf is top of my list to add a bit of pattern to my plain outfits and stop my urges that come round every winter to buy a faux fur leopard print Pat Butcher-style coat. Whistles of course bring the goods as per usual with an Oxblood Lizard Wristlet that looks like the perfect evening clutch, this Hexagon Slim Gold Bangle that will look dainty and delicate on the wrist and a Howlite Crescent Gold Necklace that looks kinda marble-esque – yes I have an addiction to marble related jewellery items.
….I think it’s time to step away from the laptop.
