It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with a skincare update. Mainly due to the fact that when I recommend something in the complexion caring realm I want to make sure that it’s real good. Of course that’s the case with any VDM-approved goods but with skincare it’s a different story. A few days of wearing a blush and I can tell whether it’s a yay of neigh, but with skincare the like it/hate it process can take months – hence the wait on this one.
I’ll give you a quick bulletin on the state of my face first. Well, aside from the burn mark I’ve got on my chin from the edge of a pan (don’t lean towards the pan when carrying out food tastings kids) and the fact that my eyebrows are well overdue some attention, things don’t look too bad. Of course there was the pizza face episode of Christmas 2013 caused by excessive homemade chocolate truffle consuming but the less that that’s spoken about the better. Overall, it’s ok. I feel like I’m finally at the place where I’m yelling ‘moisture, come at me’ every evening (well that sounded better in my head). I’m most definitely not in my greasy gal teen phase anymore (boo! I don’t even get ID’ed anymore). Which leads me on to the point of this post, some Sarah Chapman skincare additions which have been ruling the roost and basically being the bosses of my stash for the past season. It’s a brand known for its hydrating properties – ain’t nothing stripping round here – with rich formulas and emollient textures. I’ve given a large proportion of the line a trial, but these are the four items that have really made me go ‘hold up – this rocks’. I attempted to put them in a chart-like order then realised I love them all equally. I can only imagine it’s like picking a favourite child. I jest.
Sarah Chapman Skinesis Ultimate Cleanse – I’d describe this as a formula that wedges in-between the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleansing Balm and the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel in the complexion cleaning world. Slightly lighter on the face than the Hardie offering, but more oily than the Oskia. You know how these things work by now; my skin is baby soft post removal. The best bit? It comes in a pump. I’ll be upgrading the full-size very soon. Which means I’ll have this, the Oskia and the Emma Hardie to pick from each morning. What can I say? I’m a cleanser whore.
Sarah Chapman Skinesis Eye Recovery – Eye creams are something that I’m not sure I’ve ever found ‘the one’ with and though (knowing my ways) I can’t guarantee that I’ll be using this for the rest of eternity, it’s the perfect fit for right now. Not too greasy, it deposits just the right amount of moisture and works equally well as a base for makeup in the morning as it does as a treatment at night.
Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial – This is the most well-known product from the range – I mean common’ doesn’t the name just sell it to you? Do I even need to go on? It’s a serum, moisturiser and oil in one and basically does everything you’d want a skincare product to do. In all honesty the reason I like this is because it’s easy, no-fuss; I can throw this on after cleansing and not feel too guilty for going through the whole 6-step routine. In fact it’s becoming an all too frequent occurrence…
Sarah Chapman Skinesis Intense Hydrating Booster – I know I said I hadn’t put them in order, but I’ve saved the best till last. It’s a tough one to describe, I guess at the base of it it’s a serum, but a really hydrating one. I use this post-tone and pre-moisture morning and evening. It’s kind of like a daily dose of the Origins Drink-Up Intensive Mask (only without the ‘eat me’ scent). After a good few months of using it, things just feel hydrated and smooth and let’s just say since this has come into play, Hydraluron has sat a little unloved (ohhh – burn).Â
Woah nelly. Was that a rave or what? The appearance of Sarah Chapman on my shelves has truly been a positive move for my skin. It’s juicy, naturally sheeny and sits on the skincare fence at ‘normal’. There’s some other new additions too that I’ll mention another day, including one that made my face flare up and look like the back-end of a baboon. Nice. The lengths I go to, eh?
