If you watched one of my more recent Weekly Vlogs, then you would have seen the episode where I went shopping for a pumpkin costume and then got horribly distracted in the aisles of H&M home. Seriously if you’re not watching TWV’s then man you’re missing out. If you’ve never witnessed an H&M home before because I know they’re pretty hard to come by; imagine if Pinterest had a baby with Zara but in interior form – that’s H&M home. It’s a place where you can make a room look aesthetically Instagram-able without having to drop too much dollar. It’s fab. I love it. And thanks to my recent trip I revamped my dressing table with some items that were most definitely not created with makeup display purposes in mind. Allow me to talk you through…
A jug that I’m pretty sure is supposed to hold teenie tiny flowers. I use this for my hairbrushes. I recently downsized my hairbrush collection as not having much hair these days it doesn’t require much brushing so the three brushes that I do own comfortably fit into this jug, vase – actually, what is it?
A plate. Yep, just a straight up plate. Say hello to my new perfume plate. It’s a little unnecessary – my perfumes were plate-less before and looked perfectly ok – but there’s something about popping them all together that just makes things look a little neater.
A cake stand that I use for something much better than cake. Actually screw that. Nothing’s better than cake. But palettes do come close. I’ve always had this pile of palettes that just don’t really fit anywhere, but I use them all the time so need them in an easy to grab position. Splayed out on here they’re easy to grab and look pretty good if I say so myself.
A cup that’s too pretty to drink from. I mean, just look at it. Although it would make me happy to fill the kitchen cupboards with these, I just purchased the one and prop it up on my cake/palette stand and stick my brushes in it. It’s the perfect size for them all and because the tops aren’t too high, it’s really easy to pick the one I want out.
See, sometimes it’s the items that you least expect to come to the makeup storage rescue that surprise you…
