Brow gels are one of those products that I haven’t had much luck with. It’s not a step I particularly look forward to, but it’s something that my unruly brows that are so long and like to whip around in the wind can really benefit from. Back in the day I used to set them in place with a clear mascara from the drugstore. I wasn’t fussy – any brand would do – but things got grim quickly and after about a week of use it looked like I was applying an orange coloured gel, down to all the double dipping that was going on. I soon gave up on that and moved onto tinted gels to hide the whole foundation contamination thing. I tried the Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in Espresso, but as the brush was quite large I started to get the product on little hairs on my forehead which made me look even more like Wolverine and it left my brows feeling crusty *shivers*. Then I gave the Benefit Gimme Brow a go which with a smaller brush, solved my previous problem, but I couldn’t find a colour match from the two shades that are currently available. Then I kinda gave up, just using a waxy textured brow product and praying that the wind wasn’t too vicious outside.
But recently I’ve found something that comes to the rescue of my colour, crust and brush woes – Dior’s DIORSHOW Brow Styler Gel. It might not look that exciting, but let me tell that this is a genius product and by this time next year I reckon they’ll be a load more brow gels on the marker packaged up like this. I’ve tried and failed to capture the mechanism, but really what’s going on here is a clear gel that gets deposited into the brush thanks to a twist up end, so because you’re in control of how much product is entering the wand you’re never going to end up with a crusty brow or product overload. It’s transparent so there’s no colour issue and the little spiky spoolie is just the right size. See? All my previous problems – sorted.
Come to think of it, I think Dior are pretty well known for their brow products, because didn’t Khloe Kardashian wear their Brow Styler in Universal Brown on her wedding day? Just another example of useless information that my brain likes to absorb. Perhaps that should be next on my shopping list…
