You ready for one big ol’ ramble?
I don’t tend to write these kinds of posts, but to go with today’s January Favourites video, I thought I’d share what’s been going on in my life; from travels to wedding plans and generally feeling in a creative rut…
LIFE
The first days of January were fab, as was the week I spent away, but since coming back I’ve felt a bit ‘bleurgh’ (so ‘bleurgh’, that I can’t even think of a better way to describe it). I’ve managed to kick myself out of it through some serious motivational reading, so give me a shout if you’d like to hear more about the motivational materials that I use whenever I get stuck in a rut. I’m just someone who loves routine and so getting back into the swing of things; writing for this blog, editing videos, getting back of top of errands and chores, just helps to make me feel back on track.
LOVE
After a year of umm-ing and ahh-ing about what we want to do when it comes to our wedding day, Mark and I have finally started making plans. To all those out there who are engaged and aren’t quite sure what they want their wedding day to look like and let out a tiny scream in their heads whenever someone asks them if they’ve made any plans – I feel you. Planning your big day can be costly and daunting, so we’ve taken our time and have settled on something that we both feel extremely happy with.
It’s still early stages, so there’s nothing really to share. I bizarrely feel a bit private about the whole thing so there won’t be any video footage taken on the day, but when it happens you’ll know and I’m sure they’ll be some photos and other bits and bobs that I’ll post about here. Bamboozled brides who want to keep things low-key – I’m here for ya.
WORKY STUFF
Beginning the year with a trip certainly helped with January blues, but it wasn’t as effective when it came to my efficiency and creativity. I came back feeling a bit stumped and with no new content ideas. Whenever this happens I try to turn myself into a bit of a sponge, throwing myself into activities that inspire me and absorbing things I read, watch and see. IT WORKED and now I’ve got a whole page of video ideas that I want to make, so expect to see a couple of new concepts over the coming months. The underlying mission is that I want all my content to be helpful and informative in some way (aside from rambling posts like this that do neither – HA!).
TRAVEL
If you couldn’t already tell by the vlog, Disney was an absolute dream. We were so lucky to be out there with a truly awesome group of people and although I don’t think I’ll be heading out on a cruise again anytime soon (motion sickness tablets FTW), the parks are just all kinds of magical and rollercoasters are seriously, seriously fun (who knew?).
I’m currently slap-bang in the middle of my two-week ‘OMG I’m surgically attached to my laptop’ phase before I head to Koh Samui, Thailand with New Horizon Escapes next weekend. It’s the furthest that I’ve ever traveled and for the first time in my life I’m going to be travelling alone, which makes me feel equally nervous/badass like I’m having an ‘Eat. Pray. Love’ moment but without the unhappy relationship thang. It’s an active holiday and so combines good, wholesome food with a bit of getting sweaty, with a tonne of pool-time thrown in too. I’M. SO. EXCITED. I’ll definitely be vlogging whilst I’m out there, but give me a shout if there’s anything else you’d like to see content-wise. Until then – laptop time.
