As I type away a UK-purchased brimming box of beauty bits is winging its way to US shores and into the hands of my mate Elle. Along with her requests, I’ve thrown in the best of bunch that she’s unable to source from drugstores over there, or so I like to think. So I thought I’d would share a handful of favourites that previously haven’t had much of a spotlight shone on them at VDM. Elle look away now, and those beauty buffs from faraway lands heading to the UK this summer get your notepad out…
Bourjois is a good starting point; available from both Superdrug and Boots, though some of the range does trickle through to American counters it seems like the whole kaboodle doesn’t make it overseas. Highlights include their 1 Second Magic Nail Polish Remover which does exactly what it says on the tin and their new-in Cream Blush in 01 Nude Velvet, a good ol’ cream to powder blush compact in a suits all shade. Obvious nods go to the 1 Second Nail Enamels (as raved about here) and the Colour Boost Lip Crayons too.
Talking of lips I’m a little bit in lurve with Soap & Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stock in Nudist. I spoke about this aaaages ago but have found a new lease of love for it. Glossy, with a light wash of pigment; the colour range is small but perfectly formed. Other things to check at out Boots housed S&G counter; their bronzer, highlight and blush offerings. If there’s one thing their makeup line pulls off, it’s powder.
Another one I’ve picked up on my beauty radar before are the Barry M Gelly Nail Paints – now these were on Elle’s ‘to-pick-up’ list and since I last dabbed in the range early this year so many new colours have appeared. I may have added a few of the hardy formulated, glass-like  finish polishes in the basket for myself too. If eyeshadows are more your thing then it’s worth heading to Superdrug to peruse the Sleek and MUA stands; with palettes that are never over a tenner and good quality packed powders, your peepers will be happy. There may have been another double purchase of this MUA Heaven and Earth one. Opps.
Now of course there’s way more bits and bobs to add to this list, but I thought I’d keep it short and sweet and to a five true gems listing today. And for those heading to London town I’d recommend a visit to the Boots branch in Westfields White City (it’s the place where drugstore makeup dreams are made) and the Superdrug on Marble Arch – they’re both the best. Don’t expect to leave empty handed.
