Now Enrapture have been doing the blogging rounds, so I’m pretty sure most of you would have come across this before. They are quite a new brand on the market, and have released 3 tools to creative waves, kicks and curls. I went for the Encode Totem Styler, which is their take on the basic curling wand, but this ‘ain’t no average curling wand people’ oh no, let me explain. The Encode Totem Styler does it all when it comes to curling: tight ringlets, loose waves or that sexy Victoria Secrets curly ends look with their clever Encoder Dial. The 25mm curling barrel itself is split into 3 independent heat zones, which are controlled by the dialler at the base. Here you can customise the heat of the wand; heat setting ‘1’ means that the corresponding part of the wand is set to a 140° and will crease a loose curl, ‘2’ is 170° and creates a normal curl, whereas ‘3’ heats up to 210° and produces a tight curl. This means that you can create your own personal combination depending on how you want your curls, for example a ‘1,2,3’ means that you will have a loose curl graduating into a tighter curl at the ends. The Encode Totem Styler also has a ‘mini’ flipper to hold hair steady at the ends, which holds the hair taught creating a tighter curl, or it can be used as more of a ‘wand’ by wrapping hair around the barrel and holding it in place with your fingers. My favourite combination? Let me show you….
This is my favourite combination – a ‘1,2,2’ – loose curls at the root of my hair, then medium curls nearer the bottom. I tend to use it more as a wand, as I don’t like trapping my hair in the ‘flapper’ as it can feel a little fried I find. Now the sticking point with this tool is the price – at £74.99 it definitely isn’t the cheapest curler on the market, however I have to say the versatility makes it worth the money (it also contains a 3 year guarantee). Loose waves to tight ringlets – this does it all, and when we happily shell out £100+ to make our hair straight (aka GHD’s), why not pay out a premium to make it look fabulously curly too 😉 I used to use my GHD’s to create curls at the ends of my hair, but they were much flatter and didn’t stay in as well, the Totem Styler definitely gives the curls that extra bit of va-va-voom! Enrapture hair tools are pretty easy to find in the UK and are stocked in Harrods, Debenhams, Argos and John Lewis stores and you can check out their Twitter page, where the often post news of discounts! Shhhh don’t tell anyone but they are actually, 10% off at the moment at Argos! So what you do think, worth the splurge?
Much Love,
Vivianna x
