Despite copious amounts of cosmetics piling up in my various drawers, dressers and wardrobes in my room, sometimes I find it way more exciting to rifle through my boyfriend’s toiletry bag. I do the same with his clothes too. The poor lad now has a severe lack of knitted jumpers (perfect with jeans, boots and a statement necklace in the winter) and baggy shorts (there is nothing more comfortable to wear to bed), and now I’ve got started on his pampering pile. There are some duds (Dove for Men Shower Gel? No, no, I’ll stick to my Therapie Boost Hair & Body Wash thank you), but there are some gems too so here’s the do it like a dude edit that I like to secretly swatch from his bag when he’s left in the morning…
Nivea Essential Care Lip Balm: a slick-on stick that whiffs of chalk lollies (remember those?), I do have a bit of a soft spot for this. Now it’s not the most moisture injecting of my balm bevy, but it’s one that gives that sort of instant gratification that sometimes you just need.
Bumble & Bumble Semisumo: originally part of my bonce basket, this has somehow ended up here – huh – see the scaving works both ways. Though I now accept that this lo-hold, hi-shine pomade just clicks better with a shorter doo, sometimes I still do rake it through the ends of mine for a little bit of shine when things are looking a little lacklustre. And the smell?! Ah the smell. So good.
Shockwaves Go Matt Clay:Â messed-up, matte hair in a tub. It sort of reminds me of post blow-dry version of Bumble & Bumbles Texture. A wee bit sticky if you blob it on – it’s one of those little goes a long way things. I rub a pea-sized amount between my palms and work through the ends for a bit of oomph and hold.
Nivea Men 48hr Invisible Anti-Perspirant: after my Unspoken Beauty post a while back so many of you said that for a sweaty betty like myself, a switch over to men’s deodorant was a must. And hell yeah, it was. I’ve been experimenting with his spare of this one, but the Sure Maximum Strength bad boy is next on my list to keep my pits in check.
E45 Moisturising Lotion:Â the only thing that Mark will ever use on his face which makes me shudder a little, but for body moisturising, despite its heavy mineral oil content, I find it pretty good. Not too greasy but it leaves a subtle sheen and its no-scent formula is good for days when you don’t wish to reek of The Body Shop.
