With what seems like every light base lover in the world declaring their unwavering HG status stamped adoration for Dior’s Nudeskin BB Creme, the launch of their accompanying Hydra Life BB Eye Cream wasn’t going to be hush hush. It snuck onto counters a month or so ago and surprise surprise a routine Boots visit resulted in me exiting swinging this gleefully in my bag. One for the hype, me? No, never. But does it live up to its much celebrated BB sibling…
Well, I’m a bit of the fence with this one. It’s billed as a dark circle zapper, de-puffer, illuminator and SPF in one – an eye treatment with a kick of coverage if you will. And I guess it performs as expected; it deposits an über light veil of bag correcting tint, is brightening and the sun protection credentials appeal. It’s the epitome of no makeup makeup and works nicely when layered up with the Nudeskin BB Creme – heads up, I quite like to apply it before. But in terms of skincare benefits I’m not entirely convinced and my main bugbear – the shade range. Two. Two? I picked up 1 Luminous Beige but it can come off a little light and Kardashian-like on me, and 2 Luminous Peach was a pinch dark – I’m an inbetweener for this range.
Since my Boots jaunt, I found it a little cheaper online – £24.65 from Escentual. No makeup makeup wearers stock up, but those preferring a tad more coverage go hard with the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer (my ultimate fave) or go home.
