What’s In The Box: My Everyday Makeup

As part of my new beauty set-up which I’ll give you a proper look around tomorrow, my makeup has a new home. It’s from Oliver Bonas (although unfortunately it looks sold out now – I did pick it up in the sale!), but it’s a glorified MUJI set-up with two acrylic drawers that fit just the right amount of stuff in for an everyday face with a bit of variation. As I showed on Snapchat the other evening (‘viviannamakeup‘ if you want to follow) every week or two I take my drawers into my office to have a switch-a-rooney with the rest of my makeup collection just to mix things up, keep things fresh and to try new bits. So here’s the result of my latest sift through…

In the bottom drawer I keep all things complexion, so *takes a deep breath* primer-wise I’ve gone back to the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer because my skin is feeling a little dry and grim right now and I need all the glow help I can get. With that in mind I’ve got both tubes of the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream in there because it is good skin in a bottle and then I’m testing out the Dior Hydra Life Water BB in 010 and the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion in 03 (I’ve given the L’Oreal a couple of tests and it’s gooood).

There’s not much new to report for the rest of the base bits because I’m using a load of old favourites. I’m concealing right now with the Estée Lauder Doublewear Stay-In-Place Concealer in Extra Light, powdering with the MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in Medium, contouring with the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Medium, bronzing with the Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion in M20, adding colour with the Clinique Cheek Pop in Melon Pop and dusting on some highlight with the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone. One thing that is new is the REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist which is my current finishing spritz of choice.

For brows I’m keeping it basic with the Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Long-Wear Brow Pencil in Grey and then setting them down with Blink Brow Bar’s Clear Eyebrow Gel. I haven’t been too into eye makeup recently, so I’ve just got two eyeshadows in rotation: Burberry’s Sheer Eyeshadow in Pale Barley and MAC’s Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Groundwork. If I want something a little warmer then I use The Estée Edit The Edgiest Kohl in Spiced or smudge a bit of MAC’s Modern Twist Kajal Liner in Groundbreaker on my lashline (I’ve also got the MAC Chromographic Pencil in NC15/NW20 in my kit too incase I look ridiculously tired).

It’s been over seven weeks since my last lash lift, so I’m having to use my Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers a little and go back to my waterproof mascara formulas in order to keep a curl. Right now I’m back into the Dior Iconic Overcurl Waterproof Mascara and the Isehan Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara, both of which do a good job when it comes to length, separation and volume.

When it comes to lips, I’m most definitely having a nude moment. I ain’t even interested in reds or bolds right now – the peachier and more lip-like the better. I usually throw on some of the By Terry Baume de Rose before I even get started with my makeup, but it works nicely on lazy no-makeup days too. The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 07 is the next step up from that and giving equal amounts of hydration and shine, but with a bit of extra peach is the NARS Sheer Lipstick in Barbarella. When I want to feel chic and like I haven’t got anything on my lips at all I reach for the CHANEL Rouge Coco Lipstick in Adrienne and then if I want something really matte, but kinda peachy then I throw on the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm.

Chuck a bottle of Escentric Molecule Escentric 02 in there and then I’m good to go. Right, before my finger falls off it’s time to put some slap on…
