Tarte, Tarte and More Tarte

When the general question of ‘What beauty bits should one pick up when in the US?’ is thrown out there, there’s a high chance that a large percentage of the replies will contain ‘Tarte’. To us on the other side of the pond it’s a brand that’s sorta come from nowhere. Being currently unstocked in the UK, it seems they produced a kick-ass blush line (the Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush, just incase you’ve been sleeping under a rock- the shade Tipsy goes down as my favourite blush shade, ever) and have been on the up since. Their foundations, concealers, bronzers and the rest always seem to crop up in a positive light and I’ve been itching to get my mitts on some more bits. So today I’ve rustled up four speed reviews on my newest Tarte purchases…

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow in Shimmering Bronze & Slate – for a smudgeproof wash of colour that sticks around. Turns out I’m a bit of a sucker for anything in the Amazonian Clay range cause these are bloomin’ lovely too. A little hard to extract from the tiny pots with your finger, but once you’ve got a good amount on your digit and blended it over the lid these things do not budge. Like, seriously. Slate is a little like L’Oreal Colour Infallible Eyeshadow in Bronzed Taupe which is topping my current makeup charts at the moment, but in cream form and Shimmering Bronze is very much like MAC’s limited edition and ridiculously hard to find Eclair but with a little less of a metallic finish. I like.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes Waterproof Mascara – I promise I didn’t buy this for the name. Promise. You know me – I’m always on the look out for a new waterproof formulation with the L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara sized hole in my heart, so with a bit of a Tarte theme going on I thought I’d give it a go. It’s a good’un: no panda eye tendencies, a nice fluffy brush that coats every single darn lash and a texture that’s dry so holds a curl really well. Better than my current favourite MaxFactor False Lash Effect? I’ll have to report back on that one.

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer in Light – purchased for baggy eyed ‘please can I go back to sleep now?‘ days. One of my favourite US purchases. The colour match is spot on and a tiny rice sized dollop patted under the eyes waves goodbye to any signs of a bad nights sleep. It reminds me most in texture and finish of Make Up For Ever’s Full Cover Concealer – yet this has a little more dew and emolliance to it, making it the perfect under eye fodder. But don’t go too crazy with the amount or things can get a little creasy despite its name; less is more.

Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Illuminating Moisturiser – bought on the recommendation of a lovely reader and Tarte Beauty Advisor who spotted me in Sephora (surprise, surprise), Victoria – thank you! It’s a one-shade-fits-all jobbie that actually packs quite a punch coverage wise. In fact paired with the Creaseless Concealer, they make a pretty good team. It’s illuminating, yet not shimmery and is strong enough to hold the base fort down alone on good skin days. I think I’ll be getting a fair bit of use out of this to eke a bit of summer glow into autumn.

A few to add to your shopping list should you find yourself in the presence of a stockist anytime soon perhaps? But until next time I’m fully Tarte-d out.
