I Think I’ve Found the Secret to Waving Blemishes Bye, Bye

IMG_7634

When it comes to blemishes, I’m a pretty lucky wotsit *touches wood/head/any other surface that has a superstitious connotation*. While my complexion doesn’t completely shut them out I can pretty much guarantee that there are two occasions when a pimple or three will get through the net. Number one – when I’m being lazy and I go to bed with my makeup on which always feels so disgusting but I just love bed so much. I have to put my hands up and admit it does happen from time to time, but I always wake up with morning-after regret. Number two – ‘that‘ time of the month, which is always signalled to outsiders by some gigantic sucker plonked right in the centre of my face, usually on the end of my nose like Rudolf. Nice. I’ve given on-the-spot treatments a go over the years and some have come up trumps, but this little duo may just be my favourite yet…

My spots tend to come up as those red, angry lumps that you can pre-empt is going to turn into a squeezable spot in about 10 days time after it’s given you a whole lot of pain. It feels like a bruise. You know the ones I mean? So the way that I like to wave goodbye to blemishes is to bring these to the surface and then treat them accordingly. To do this I like to firstly use some kind of mask and then tend to it with a clarifying toner.

You won’t be surprised by the product I deploy for step one if you’re a regular around these parts. It’s the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask – yes, again – I know. I pop a little bit of this AHA-based gel mask on the affected area, give it a rub, leave it a few minutes and then wash it off. Next I apply some of the REN Clarimatte Clarifying Toner on a cotton pad, over the zit or bump (depending on what level it’s progressed to) and continue on with my routine as normal. I find the mask brings things to the surface and the toner dries it out.

So far, so good with this little duo and the nice thing is that they perform well individually too with the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask sloughing my skin on its dull days and the Clarifying Toner tending to things when areas get a tad oily. But together? Blemishes – be gone.
