I’m sure you are all bored of me raving on about Laura Mercier’s Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lush Nectarine by now, but a few of you asked for a more in-depth review and a comparison post, so here it goes. It’s fair to say that Lush Nectarine has pretty much been all that has adorned my apples since I brought it over a month ago now. Laura Mercier are famed for their natural skin-like formulations in wearable colours and this blush fits exactly into that mould. A peach blush with a nice amount of pink and a slight golden shimmer; it gives such a natural glow to the cheeks and stays around all day too. It was always one that caught my eye and I’m so glad I finally took the plunge and purchased it as I think it is my new favourite blush, especially when I look at it compared to my other peachy offerings.
From left to right in the pictures above we have the Tarte Amazonian Clay Long Wear-Blush in Tipsy – a ridiculously pigmented neon peach, Benefit Coralista a pale pinky peach blush with a golden sheen, the Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lush Nectarine and MAC Melba blush my previous old favourite. Before I swatched them all I was certain that Lush Nectarine was a spot-on dupe for Benefit’s Coralista, but once I’d compared them side to side, although it’s the closest dupe that I own Coralista is much paler and more pinky. MAC Melba looks very harsh in comparison to Lush Nectarine, I guess cause it doesn’t contain any shimmer and almost looks a little browny. And I think it’s fair to conclude that although a gorgeous shade the Tarte Blush in Tipsy doesn’t really compare.
So if you have Benefit’s Coralista you might be able to give Laura Mercier Lush Nectarine a miss, depending on how much of a peach blush obsessive you are! I’ve actually found that MAC Melba with Coralista over the top gives a very similar finish, so it might be worth giving that a go. However, do I recommend Lush Nectarine?
